Straight out of the studio — slide to compare.
The scene looked right in person. Then the kitchen bulbs turned everything amber, or the shade went blue, or the camera split the difference between a bright window and a dim room and served both badly. Between your memory and your file sits a stack of wrong guesses — and this remake unstacks them.
Auto mode diagnoses and treats in one pass: the cast gets neutralized, the white point lands on true white, buried shadow detail comes up, hot highlights come down, and saturation settles where skin looks like skin. The named modes let you steer instead — pull a specific warm or cool cast, boost vibrance, revive a faded frame, or commit to a classic black-and-white conversion.
Make it the first press in any serious edit chain. Retouching, background swaps, and upscales all behave better on color-true input, the same reason a colorist grades before anyone else touches the footage. It earns a second role as a finishing pass too: a batch of everyday photos comes out consistent instead of lottery-lit.

Questions, answered
When should I pick a named mode over Auto?
When you already know the diagnosis. A photo that is obviously orange from tungsten bulbs goes faster through 'Fix warm cast'; a washed-out scan belongs in 'Revive faded photo'. Auto is for everything you cannot name.
What does the black & white mode do differently from desaturating?
It builds a proper monochrome conversion — tonal separation, contrast structure, clean highlights — rather than draining the color channel and leaving mud. Think darkroom print, not grayscale toggle.
Can it rescue photos shot under mixed lighting?
Mixed sources — window daylight fighting warm lamps — are the hardest case and the most common one. The correction is applied regionally, so each zone gets pulled toward neutral instead of one global shift making half the frame worse.
Is this the same as the vibrance boost apps apply?
No — a vibrance slider pushes saturation everywhere and calls it a day. Correction is diagnostic: it removes what the light and camera got wrong. There is a vibrance mode here when you want the push, but it sits on a corrected base.
