Straight out of the studio — slide to compare.
There is a version of every portrait where the skin cooperates. The blemish that arrived the night before is gone, the forehead shine from the overhead light is calmed, the redness around the nose has settled. That version is what this remake builds — nothing more dramatic than that.
The line it refuses to cross is texture. Smoothing filters erase pores and turn faces into candle wax; this pass works spot by spot instead, clearing temporary problems while the permanent geography — freckles, moles, fine lines that belong to you — stays on the map. Eyes and teeth get a gentle tidy rather than a bleach.
Run it on selfies before they become profile photos, on event portraits before they get printed, on the whole family in a group shot at once. It slots in front of nearly every other portrait remake: cleaner skin gives the Headshot tool, the Expression Changer, and the Makeup Try-On a better canvas to work on. Compare before and after at full zoom — good retouching should be hard to point at.

Questions, answered
Is there a strength slider?
No — the pass is calibrated to one restrained level, because restraint is the product. If a photo needs heavier work, chain a second pass or follow up with a targeted instruction in the AI Editor.
Should I retouch before or after a headshot remake?
Before. Clean skin going into the Professional Headshot tool means the studio lighting lands on a good surface, and you avoid retouching a face that has already been re-rendered.
How does it treat beards and mature skin?
Carefully. Stubble stays stubble and laugh lines stay part of the face; the pass goes after shine, blotches, and stray marks rather than after age. A seventy-year-old face should leave looking seventy and rested.
Will makeup in the photo survive?
Deliberate makeup reads as part of the look and is left in place — the target is skin trouble, not eyeliner. If you want the makeup changed rather than kept, the Makeup Try-On tool takes over from there.
Is there a free way to use AI Face Retouch?
